Our Impact
At Hill + House our commitment to the environment runs much deeper than just our sustainable products. Along with prioritizing companies with eco-friendly manufacturing and sustainable materials and packaging, we also committed to supporting amazing nonprofits that are enacting real change.
1% for the Planet
At Hill + House, we’re proud to be a member of 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses and individuals committed to donating 1% of their sales to environmental causes. By being a part of this movement, we are able to make a tangible impact on the planet and support organizations that are working to protect our natural resources.
We believe that it is our responsibility to give back to the environment and protect the planet for future generations. Through our partnership with 1% for the Planet, we are able to do just that. Every purchase you make from Hill and House supports the following nonprofit partners: Plastic Pollution Coalition, Sustain Charlotte, and Green America.
Plastic Pollution Coalition
The Plastic Pollution Coalition is a non-profit organization that raises awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and advocates for solutions to reduce plastic waste. They collaborate with individuals, businesses, governments and other organizations to promote policy changes and provide educational resources to protect the planet from plastic pollution.
Green America
Green America is an organization that promotes sustainable practices, consumer advocacy and socialjustice. They empower individuals and businesses to make responsible choices, advocate for renewableenergy, fair trade and ethical business practices. Their campaigns and initiatives drive positive change, address climate change and help create a more sustainable and equitable economy.
Sustainability Practices at Hill + House
Our sustainable practices include plastic-free packaging and packing materials, printed packing slips on paper made from sawmill waste chips using wind and hydropower, with eco-tank printer technology to eliminate print cartridges.
We also use compostable shipping labels and water-activated kraft paper tape. Our packing materials are made from 50-100% recycled content. All boxes are recycled, and we ensure that all paper and cardboard materials from suppliers are recycled too. We prioritize energy-efficient lighting with daylight and LED bulbs in the office, and we strive to be paperless, except for essential packing slips.
As part of our future plans, we aim to implement solar energy at our main office by 2025.
